About
3M™ Window Film - Prestige Series are the first clear films that use no metals and offer solutions that only the dark and reflective films were able to accomplish. Creating a clear window film with all these advantages wasn’t easy. It required the world-leading nano-technology laboratories of 3M. Nano-technology works with materials that are over 1,000 times smaller than the width of a hair. This expertise has allowed 3M to create a window film with hundreds of layers that is less than the thickness of a Post-it Note.
What makes Prestige Series Film so special?
Prestige Series Films have extremely low interior and exterior reflectivity (very comparable to clear glass). This means Prestige Series Films are barely discernable from inside and outside of the home. Traditional clear or neutral films do this as well, but they only offer UV rejection and little or no heat rejection. Prestige Series Films are so special because they not only reject 99.9% of the UV rays, but also reject 97% of the infrared heat. It is a common misconception that if you block UV rays you stop fading; that is not true. UV rays are only 40% of the cause of fading. Heat and visible light are 25% respectively with 10% of the additional cause to be miscellaneous (type of material, orientation, wear and tear, etc.). So for the first time ever there is a lightly shaded and non reflective film that performs well in the categories of fading, solar heat reduction, and energy savings no matter what your situation is.
Traditional Residential applications for Prestige Series Films
Prestige Series Films are perfect if you only want to do some of the windows in your home. Since they are so light and low in reflectivity you won’t have a noticeable difference between your tinted and non tinted windows. They are also great for windows that only receive ambient or partial sunlight because they still let in significant amounts natural light. The three main reasons clients film their windows are heat gain, glare, and fading. Some clients have issues with all three and some have issues with one or two of them. If you are having issues with heat and fading but not glare than Prestige is the perfect solution! Here are some common applications for Prestige in your home.
Traditional Commercial applications for Prestige Series Films
If you need a film to protect your merchandise but the merchandise still needs to be seen than Prestige is perfect. It is great for historical limitations. We have worked on historical projects that required the reuse of the original glass but that same glass needed to be more energy efficient, and only 3M Prestige Film was able to accomplish this. Here are some of the applications where we have used Prestige Films on commercial projects.
